How much to raise over limpers

Limpers change your raise size. Here is the rule the Aced Poker live charts use.

Short answer

Raise to 5bb against one limper in position. Add 2bb for each extra limper. From the blinds add 1bb more.

At 1/2 that is $10 against one limper and $14 against two.

Chart Sizes come from the raise on each Aced Poker limper chart. The cutoff uses the button sizes.

Why the size grows

Math Each limper adds 1bb to the pot. A raise to 5bb over one limper is 2 times the 2.5bb in front of you.

Math The same ratio holds for 2 and 3 limpers. So a pure bluff needs 66.7% folds every time.

Work out your raise

  1. Start at 3bb in position.
  2. Add 2bb for each limper.
  3. Add 1bb more from the small blind or big blind.
  4. Multiply by the big blind for dollars. At 1/2 a 7bb raise is $14.

Cutoff against two limpers

  • Iso raise 7bb 7%
  • Overlimp 10%
  • Fold 83%
With two limpers the cutoff raises to 7bb with 7% of hands.

FAQ

Questions players ask.

How much do I raise over 3 limpers at 1/2?

Raise to 9bb in position. That is $18 at 1/2.

Why raise more from the blinds?

You play the rest of the hand out of position. So the charts raise 1bb more and with fewer hands.

Should I ever just limp behind?

Yes. The charts limp behind with hands that win big multiway pots. On the button against two limpers 76s limps behind every time.
